Joseph A. Bracken, S.J. is professor emeritus of theology and former director of the Edward B. Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He has specialized in linking the metaphysical thought of Alfred North Whitehead with Christian systematic theology. He is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles; his works include Subjectivity, Objectivity and Intersubjectivity: A New Paradigm for Religion and Science (2009) and Does God Roll Dice? Divine Providence for a World in the Making (2012).
In this book, Bracken utilizes the language and conceptual structures of systems theory as a philosophical and scientific grammar to show traditional Christian beliefs in a new light that is accessible and rationally plausible to a contemporary, scientifically influenced society.
