Gary Black Jr. is the chair of Azusa Pacific University’s Department of Advanced Studies and the director of the Doctor of Ministry program. His passion lies in helping church leaders navigate an increasingly post-Christian culture while achieving personal discipleship through the process of spiritual formation, leadership development, and transformational scholarship. He is also devoted to helping leaders and educators better understand the interrelated topics of faith, work, vocation, and the common good. Black is coauthor with Dallas Willard of The Divine Conspiracy Continued (2014).
In this introductory volume for the Foundations for Learning series, Black asserts that while the primary subjects of seminary and professional church work training may dominate the interests of students, students must engage in the principal pursuit of understanding, then applying, Christian theology.
